Dr Anthony Franzè is a Design Academic at Griffith University and a Postdoctoral Researcher at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), specialising in integrating advanced Industry 4.0 technologies—including Augmented Reality (AR), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, and 3D Printing—into design, manufacturing and construction processes. With a PhD from QUT titled "Augmented Fabrication: An Australian Industry 4.0 Augmented Reality (AR) Framework," Anthony's research explores the integration of immersive technologies into design-to-fabrication processes, complementing his applied work in the Building 4.0 CRC and Brickworks project, "From Digital Design to Human-Robot Collaborative Masonry Construction."
A passionate educator, Anthony advocates for a curriculum that embraces transdisciplinary initiatives. He prepares students to tackle contemporary design challenges through a holistic approach that blends traditional craftsmanship with digital innovation. His educational philosophy is underpinned by practical, research-driven methods that ensure students are proficient in applying their skills in dynamic professional settings.
Recognised for his contributions to the field, including a victory in the 2012 BMW Urban Mobility Challenge, Anthony is committed to propelling Australian manufacturing forward. He leverages collaborative workshops to tailor innovative solutions that meet organisations' unique needs. He is dedicated to bridging the gap between academia and industry, consistently pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved in human-computer interaction (HCI), manufacturing, and construction.
